Usogui - Vol. 42 Ch. 459 - The Hidden Landmine

@Veshv My thinking was that because Baku folded, the hands above end up becoming irrelevant (Hal loses and Fukurou wins regardless of the hands created), but I cannot confirm that without more information from the manga. I don't know how a fold influences the punishments for the upper layer, or...

Usogui - Vol. 42 Ch. 459 - The Hidden Landmine

@idle_af I think it's a double-layed plan; both the broken regulator display and the faith in Hal to preserve the cards for 25. I think we are being misled in the direction of the broken regulator; notice they have not showed the hand Hal made at all, everyone in the game is just assuming he...

Usogui - Vol. 42 Ch. 459 - The Hidden Landmine

This is the second time Team Lalo has used this "If it's you..." terminology. I'll have to re-read to see if Robert K or Floyd Lee used it too. Maybe they wouldn't have, since they were allies of Lalo's out of convenience. It's interesting the level of faith they have in Lalo's abilities.

And there it is...the broken shard. I really like how legendary Tatsuki is. Even in death, his presence is felt all over the manga.

Usogui - Vol. 42 Ch. 458 - Folding From Instinct

Fukurou is a really interesting character. I think his decision to side with Lalo is a combination of desire to see Kakerou continue to prosper (perhaps even go worldwide with Lalo's connection) and learning into his philosophy of "not closing your eyes out of instinct". On its surface giving...

    Usogui - Vol. 42 Ch. 457 - Paradigm Shift

I got tripped up by the imagined raise as well, I think what got me was the referees talked about it as if it happened. If you look at Lalo, he doesn't move at all until he actually max bets. It makes sense considering how dramatically he called and raised in the first hand, but I was a bit...

    Usogui - Vol. 42 Ch. 457 - Paradigm Shift

Jonui's theory from last chapter was a good call. Baku does not bet on luck; it is more in character for him to believe in Hal and fold here, continuing with the original plan. We as readers know Fukurou made an invalid hand, but no one else in the game other than Shion does. Betting everything...

Usogui - Vol. 42 Ch. 456 - The Suicidal Raise

I've re-read this over and over and don't understand how Fukurou could have made such a mistake when the cards are revealed every round. The only hint we have is his hesitation when he thinks Hal is acting weird. There's something there, but I don't have an inkling of what happened. It's...

Incredible how in sync Baku and Hal are.

    Usogui - Vol. 42 Ch. 454 - A Small Trigger

Sorry to spam the comment section, but last thought ; re-reading The Prince Bee chapter https://mangadex.org/chapter/714773/1 with what we know now makes the story seem clearer than it was initially. A couple people were asking about Baku and Hal's motivations recently and they're kind of...

    Usogui - Vol. 42 Ch. 454 - A Small Trigger

Thanks for all your hard work, Team Duwang. Eagerly waiting for the next batch. Some ramblings on Souichi's memory loss as I understand it. @catx3 Given what we know about the memory loss now, I think your second theory as to why he'd lose his memory immediately after Usogui wins is on the...

    Usogui - Vol. 42 Ch. 454 - A Small Trigger

Foreshadowing upon foreshadowing. https://mangadex.org/chapter/204659/6 I really like this page because not only did it foreshadow the fact that Souichi loses his memory, but also doubled as a foreshadowing of what his inner psyche said in this chapter; that its almost a relief to do so. He's...

    Usogui - Vol. 42 Ch. 453 - The Strongest 4 Cards

@catx @nhattminhh I think that's Fukurou just being scared and believing that taking a second hit will break him and render him unable to think for the final round. Which makes sense; if you win round 4 you can think clearly for round 5, even if you know you will lose in round 5, because the...

    Usogui - Vol. 42 Ch. 453 - The Strongest 4 Cards

@Ghetsis I didn't notice that! Great catch. There are so many little details I've missed or forgotten. I think I'm due for a re-read lol

    Usogui - Vol. 42 Ch. 453 - The Strongest 4 Cards

@Ghetsis Interesting writeup. The mystery of Fukurou's disappearing and reappearing Kakerou membership is one I couldn't figure out myself, so I kind of put it aside. There's definitely an oddity there where he apparently relinquished his membership before gambling with Hal, but also had one to...

    Usogui - Vol. 42 Ch. 453 - The Strongest 4 Cards

Last thing: I really like this chapter visually. Dividing the pages into the top and bottom floors like that is really cool. @AggravatingHighway I believe the arrows are simply to keep guiding the reader along with the two trains of thought of the upper and lower levels. Remember, normally...

    Usogui - Vol. 42 Ch. 453 - The Strongest 4 Cards

I still have so many questions about Fukurou. When did he flip to Ideal from being the "senior member of Kakerou"? What did Lalo offer him? We know Lalo's MO with his strongest allies was to form alliances of convenience with them, like with Robert K looking for his brother and Long looking for...

    Usogui - Vol. 42 Ch. 453 - The Strongest 4 Cards

Crazy to see Fukurou so unnerved. The witch pain is truly unimaginable. Surely Lalo realizes that if he plays 44 first and Fukurou makes the best hand it'll kill his own 63, right? I suppose it's a battle between the lower levels desire to win Round 5 with no real regard to Round 4, and the...
