The art for this kind of reminds me of the Prince Valiant newspaper serial for some reason. Maybe it's the color palette or something. Anyway, I'm generally not that fond of that particular aesthetic (seems kinda wooden), but for some reason it fits this pretty well, I'm digging it.

The execution seems okay, but wow, not even a novice GM who's sat a session or two would let anyone in the party have an obviously broken mechanic like that. On the other hand, there's loads of stories like these out there; tabletop gaming ≠ manga.
