I’m glad there’s a split in people who think it’s good and people who think this story sucks. In a lot of ways it reminds me of the last of us 2 where the author took high risk but it fell on its face rather than high reward
Author covered elementary school and middle school. Maybe a wholesome (not watamote) high school story about fitting in, college story about finding your passion, and adult story about finding love is what the author wants to do next :O

I appreciate that mc has a weak (unspoken) connection to his mom where as everyone else as a clear reason to their initial problem between mother and daughter, makes the main conflict more uncertain of he’ll become a better son and accept his mother rather than feeling inferior and toxic...
I’m a sucker for volume 3’s playful and volume 5’s genius but volume 6’s ghost I think had the most well written dynamic with the “delinquent” (aside from the historic volume 1’s childhood friend+forgotten). Volume 7’s childhood rival is good but doesn’t fit this style of manga in the slightest...
