This looks great. I saw the anime of Seirei no Moribito, and really enjoyed how Balsa is a genuinely strong female character. I hope there is more to this one

Woah. Some pretty harsh injuries from that cavalry charge. I can see how it would be hard to keep a formation together, when faced by a stampede of meat and steel.

That two-part trigger is really interesting. It demonstrates a great principle of having one part of the device bearing all of the tension, while the trigger is slack, but the trigger easily disrupts the stability of the 'power' component.

Kinda cute. Rural towns in Japan have been short on young people, and some have put money together to provide incentives for younger people to move in from the cities. In sometimes wonder if these kinds of stories receive a government subsidy.

@korvas has a realistic view on this. A nation like Japan depends heavily on imports of fuel. I know that they can restart their nuclear plants, and increase their output for a time, before the fuel is expended, but their situation is pretty dire. I can easily imagine that a few 'showcase'...

I like this theory the best, perhaps because it changes the seeming cruelty of fate into a kind of mercy. In any case, Nyaachi seems to be very young. I would expect Takumi to be willing to wait for her to grow up, before trying to resume any intimate marital relations with her.

An aside about apologizing to clients: I read a New Yorker article about companies that rent out actors to pose as relatives, etc. For instance, there's a woman who is divorced. She hires a man to pose as her husband, to show up as a married couple to social and school functions, for the sake...

That was sweet and fun! I recently learned that the intestinal parasites in fish can tell when the fish has died, and will quickly migrate into the muscle, so they can be ingested by whatever scavenger (or fishing predator) might eat it. Because of this, commercially-caught fish must be chilled...

What is that 'fan' thing? It shows up in some of Rumiko Takahashi's manga, too, and seems to be more like a 'slapstick' for sound effect, than an actual 'fan'. Is it a prop used in broad comedy in Japan?
