I get the vibe that sensei letting Yamada off the hook there was less because he actually bought Ichikawa's argument and more because his teacher's instinct of "reward the quiet kid for actually talking" overrode his desire to catch/punish someone for a victimless crime.

The rest of the chapter is what takes up most of the attention, but a minor thing I like here is Kobayashi's "no, really, you don't need to bother" line. Feels like she's being notably meaner/more direct towards Pickup-pai after being duped by him way back in chapter 21.

@So-chan Moe wants to be a basic bitch but she's too good of a girl to fully commit herself to the bit. Which is, of course, probably the reason why she fell in with/fits in well with Yamada's circle of friends in the first place.

Going by the chapter 53 preview

"We're a bit similar" is a hell of an evolution from the "we're from completely different worlds" attitude he was displaying as recently as the date chapters.

It's another few chapters before he acknowledges it but this is really the point where he starts to believe that he actually has a chance- he spends the whole chapter thinking about what the Proper Things To Do on a date are.

Page 3 makes me wonder if her friends already suspect that Yamada has a thing for Ichikawa at this point.
