Hmm I feel this isn't silly enough to get by on humor (to compare it with a similar manga, the one with the muscle guy is more ludicrous than this and more entertaining because of that) and not all that great as normal story, I thunk I will give it to ch.10 and then probably drop it.

Theory: guy has some kind of eye disease that reduces his field of vision to a few degree and he only sees the pot, also probably some ear disease. Though mainly a brain disease.

As his internal monologue explains they assume hers is worth more. I don't think him wearing it mean it clearly is immensely valuable to him. Though yeah "it is magic and helps me so I need it" is an explanation he could have tried.
