The story had potential to be like a Duke's Daughter in regards to management of a territory and world building, but this pacing is horrible even for a first chapter. It feels way too fast and drama coming in already before establishing a backstory for the new world is really throwing me off.

It's cute, but damn I feel sorry for her.

@daime17 the web novel didn't say why, but it was probably a lie to make it seem like he gave him something precious to signify their friendship. I doubt anyone would curse a ring that was really owned by their mother to hurt someone else.

@JaneJeon that's what it looks like. I'm guessing that he was in love with Kaede and subconsciously used Kaoru as a replacement. I bet he just realized that somewhere down the line, he fell in love with Kaoru as well.
