Whoever is working on the manga is getting really disrespectful towards the source material. The pacing is getting jumbled up and they keep needlessly portraying him in his human form as if it were his default.

Isekai is a newbie bait genre, but this one seems to have an experienced writer. Hopefully this means it isn't going to devolve like the others.

To be honest, it feels like the ratings in this site are extremely accurate. Not all manga will be crafted with the same level of skills and passion.
