I preferred the compactness of the old layout's comments and forums. There is a lot more wasted space on the beta site. Also like/dislike buttons why? Will these serve any useful purpose?

Can you re-implement the alternating background colours that are found in various areas of the old site? I don't know if the functionality of the beta site will be better, but from a UI/UX perspective it seems worse to me.
