That is exactly what I thought too so I wouldn't call it random, it seems to be leaning towards him wanting a male lover more than anything else.

Actually if they weren't powered on, they might be fine if they are allowed to completely dry out before being used (put them in some rice to help with this). That said, I don't think she actually uses them anyway.

The event at the end is a bit confusing, probably meant to be up for interpretation on purpose. There may also be some lost in translation nuance there too. I tend to believe the ending follows the meaning of the title.
