As someone already pointed out it seems to be inspired by an SCP. The whole point was for that SCP no matter what it did no one saw him as a human. It was a mimetic effect.
I mean. The cat is cute so it's all good. Plus his appraisal skill is probably good enough for him to live in comfort inside town as a guild receptionist or something. He doesn't actually need to become an adventurer and use fighting skills or anything so it's not even much of a loss.
