If you want to ease up on your bandwidth - limit the size of avatars, at least on the forum/comments. Typical comment thread can easily be 500Kb-2Mb on avatars alone, all for the 100x100 images. Or at least convert to a small thumbnail for the forum, and show an unaltered one on the profile page.
