@admkun You don't have to be an expert chef to tell that good tastes like trash. You don't have to be a master artist to tell that a drawing looks like trash. And you don't have to be a world-class writer to tell when a story is a juvenile self-insert pile of trash.

I'm not completely gripped so far, sort of teetering on the edge. Hard to articulate why, but I'm just not emotionally invested. Perhaps it just feels a little contrived or the characters don't feel like real people. I think it suffers from the usual pacing problems of Japanese serialization...

I hope they actually go into the antagonist's motives and they don't turn out to just be a bunch of cartoonish bs.

Why are authors incapable of writing characters that feel like actual human beings? I just can't bring myself to give a fuck about anything that happens because it's written like an edgy Saturday morning cartoon.

The standards of the reader base on this site seem pretty low. As long as there's girls and an overpowered mary sue they can self-insert into they'll call it a masterpiece. Wonder what the average age is...

So does this have any actual self-awareness, or is it just nationalistic revisionism? The obvious Japan stand in was attacked by the obvious US stand in first because the US didn't want them to have a monopoly of resources? Pretty sure that's not how that went.

Eh... the characters don't really feel of act like human beings. It's difficult to get invested.
