to be fair if you had a god text box that told you literally everything wrong with your body except physical ailments it kinda makes sense that he wouldn't think it was a spell, and maybe later along after he first got it he probably didn't have enough magic to try the hex without dying anyway so he probably wouldn't attempt it. that be said the new mystery is how the guy got the hex past the box, it might be a newly created magic that is unrecognized in the system.
