Wouldn't it be logical to protect the face anyway, since that houses the primary visual sensor; not to mention the all-important bits and functions behind the face (IF they're indeed stored on the head)

Adding on to what @Kampfarsch says, while this is trying to make it seem that the android has begun to value her face, there’s the issue where her sight, the most important part regardless android or not, comes from her head. 1 arm is objectively easier to compensate for than sight
