I think a better compromise is for someone to make a userscript that can embed Mangaupdates tags right onto the page (if the manga has an Mangaupdates link).
Though the problem is that this isn't searchable.

@gouder MangaUpdates is also kind of dying, more people are voting and following on MangaDex than on MU nowadays. A user-reliant system isn't that helpful without any users to contribute. And plenty of titles on MangaDex aren't on MU in the first place, namely twitter junk, western and Chinese.

I tried mangaupdates, as suggested in the thread, but there's so many tags for genders (over 450 tags!) that it's not practical.

Yeah definitely not disagreeing with you there lol. Mangadex is much closer to ideal in that regard.

Sorry man the only sites I use for situations like yours are mangaupdates and novel updates and as you already know they're a pain to work with.
