@Catdyne The current emperor didn’t take the throne the legitimate way, meaning he wasn’t supposed to or wasn’t meant to because of his bloodline. That includes the current emperor’s daughter. You can assume Duke Gladya is kinda in the position of Archduke (the author calls him Duke so we go with that) So after Duke Gladya died, Aidin was next in succession to the throne
There isn’t any extra info about the previous emperor for now
