The first time I read it I thought that the part where he grows old was just a hallucination and maybe he fainted right under Aka and never even got to the village and when Aka woke up, he fed him a piece of his flesh and that happened. But then after the second reading, I realized the poor guy lived his entire life in regret and misery and went to die as an old man in the place he shared with Aka. God if Aka hadn't shown up and they didn't get their happy ending, this would've been so tragic but just as beautiful. Glad this ended well
