So it means the duke is either her brother or her father, I'm more leaning towards them being siblings because of the fact he obviously has no memories and was 18 at the time, while also being an overused plot. I also know that it is common to be young parents during this time period. But Hailynn being his daughter would be too obvious.

@Akera93 if they did that the man wanting to adopt her would have legal claim over her. honestly, if he gave up his duke statues and just lived in the holy kingdom, as its ruler, it wouldnt matter what this king wants but its probably some compromise to maintain peace that the king's side clearly has no intention of upholding.
