The mystery was more or less clichéd but it was enjoyable. However.... *SPOILER*
I am not sure why the woman wanted revenge so bad that she would kill every male heir. It's not like she was abused or that her child was killed. She willing gave herself to him and he left her. I understand her anger against his betrayal but what is this anger directed towards the male heir. She was pregnant with his child and so was the woman that he married. Both the women gave birth to their respective child. She was married off to another man so she could have the child properly. No harm was done to her child. The only reason she wanted to kill the wife's child was merely because that child would be the heir/head of the household. So in the end it all came down to who would inherit the family wealth. She is not directing her revenge towards the man that betrayed her but to all the women who married into the family and had to loose their husbands and sons. She is no victim at this point just a scheming witch who only wanted to take the household under her control through her son. What love? All she wanted was the family fortune. Everthing was about the wealth and fame she would have gained if she had married him and not some other guy. She even tells her male descendent to overtake the companies by making internal conflicts. Scheming beyond grave much? So while her own child/childern and all of her descendents lived long and healthy life she killed every male descendent of the male protagonist's family. She was dreaming of making her child the heir while her own husband gave her proper title and position in his family but wasn't rich enough for her. She could have moved on and live happily with her family but no she had to be a psycho. She is the real criminal here no pity, her ass should be in hell. Sorry not sorry.
Even Yutaro's(one of the witch's victims) wife haunted only that one man(the monk) who let out the family story and unwittingly almost made a spectacle out of it for other's entertainment. However even in this case the deaths were caused by the witch.
Nothing can make that witch an innocent contender.
IMO the witch is the only villain with no pardon for what she has done. The man who betrayed her is a jerk that one can find in every land and era. All the others are victims.
