TL, (@awajima_girls ?), what are the kanji for Ueda Ryoko? I think her name might be a literary allusion
Edit: found it. She’s 上田良子. I think this is an allusion to Ueda Ryōhei (植田良平), who is the chief disciple of the Yoshioka school in the many, many stories(manga, film, tv) based on/descended from Yoshikawa’s novel “Musashi.” The most familiar to this audience probably being Inoue’s “Vagabond.”
This may sound like a stretch to say about a character who appears in one chapter, but her themes are similar somehow.
It’s also possible it’s coincidental but... given Japanese literature...
@malagigi_encantatore Interesting catch! Ueda Ryouko is a much more prominent character in Aoi Hana, where she attends the same girls' school as one of the lead characters.
