Am I missing some critical piece of in-universe lore, or is it just the example of extremely pretentious, "poetic" writing with heavy handed symbolism?

If latter then even 3/10 feels like pushing it (and those 3 points are only for the cover and cafe's elegant interior design: seems like it'd made for a nice place to have a drink irl).
