'The Genius Enters!' I mean even the mangaka admits the genius one being Sakuraba, rather than Ryuu. I mean, why not just make him the male lead? It's funny everyone keeps saying Ryuu is a genius. If Sakuraba manages to score a goal as soon he gets put in, I'll protest against Ryuu being the main character.

@Yunwu but ryu got injured and is never the same tho? Isnt the story about how he is adapting and changing after what may be a career ending injury? I thought it is implied if ryu was never injured he would be better than everyone

@Breadmakesufat Yes, but he has barely made any progress since his injury has healed. I'm not looking for him to solve it really quickly, but his so called progress is him making most of the goals through tricks and with little skills. I used to play soccer with my brother for a while and even I can tell how boring his soccer is. He barely has any of his soccer instincts left.

Well, don't mind me much. I'm just being a tsun because I want him to succeed.

@Yunwu he wouldn't be where he is right now if he'd made barely any progress...

Ryū right now would be similar to a typical shonen protagonist who was once OP but then had most of their powers sealed away or outright stripped from them. They can't do what they could before, so they have to use these extra tricks and skills to bridge the gap. They retain the mental aspect (which is generally where most of Ryū's genius lies), but the physical aspect is either gone or warped.
