I love shoujo manga, without at least a chapter a day I get withdrawals. So I thought I would ask what kind of shoujo or shoujo romance manga you like the most?

So in terms of pure shoujo manga (not like with cats or comedic shenanigans) mine would be Lovely Complex still. Its the first time in a shoujo manga that I have ever loved the two leads so much

Fushigi Yuugi, definitely. I'm more partial to the Genbu story though and now the current Byakko arc.

Hana to Akuma, Red River, From Far Away. So many good ones it's hard to choose the all time best! ?

Hmm. I have no definitive "best", but I have strong favorites per category/niche-- some of which I'll mention below:

- Strong, smart female leads. She doesn't have to be a rocket scientist, but she has to be at least sensible: Saiunkoku Monogatari, Okobore Hime to Entaku no Kishi, and Song of the Long March .

- The ones that skewer the shoujo romance genre lovingly: Ouran Koukou Host Club, Koi dano Ai dano, and of course, Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun

- Historical/political romances, fantasy or real life-based: Reimei no Arcana, Akatsuki no Yona, and Versailles no Bara.

- Best-friends-turned-to-lovers plot, which I listed herehttp://syaochan.com/blog/archive/8-sweetest-best-friends-lovers-romances-anime-manga

Probably Last Game, because the art style didn't turn me off like regular shoujo manga did.

If talking about the oldies maybe tokimeki tonight
if you into heavy emotional stuff then taiyou no ie

my all time fav is beauty pop
i've read newer shoujo but didn't find ones that stick out (and maybe because a lot of them still ongoing) and i'm not into endless loop manga (stuff that almost never end for years).
but i think for newer ones asada nikki's manga is in my recommendation, though she always made the rival guy more desirable than main guy imo

Dengeki Daisy and Kamisama Hajimemashita stand out the most from the ones that I've read.

Glass Mask (it's fantastic, I have no idea as to why it hasn't been licensed), Hana Yori Dango and, even if I don't really count it as a shojo, Banana fish.

Takane to Hana is a new favorite. Not sure if it counts though since it's not finished.

same mangaka as Taiyou no Ie

Ones that I've really liked are Gakuen Alice, Hajimari no Niina, Pika Ichi, Coda, and Ame Nochi Hare.

Takane to Hana is definitely a good read! Evidence? I don’t read Shoujo. Ever.
But I’m loving reading this!
The dynamic between the two main leads is hilarious to watch, as they constantly try to out-snark each other.
But the best part is, when faced with problems, they actually handle them with maturity instead of prolonging the drama.
