Blocking mods

This will sound like a hot take but I would like to be able to block mods as I have noticed people with Mods set as their user level cannot be blocked.

My reason in asking for this is that some people with these levels have had their mangas removed from this site for whatsoever reason and this only clutters mangas with vast lists of un-readable/inaccessible nonsense.
I dunno maybe it's only me who has this paper-cut

It sounds like you need to use the group blocking feature, not user blocking feature.

I know about that feature but unfortunately some mods are either: not in a group or they've been booted from the group, so that isn't an available option

I think this person is saying "the manga that happens to get uploaded by people who happen to be mods are more likely to be made unavailable than manga uploaded by normal people, regardless of group". I have no idea what anyone's supposed to make of that.

Its not that theyre not in the group. In most of the cases its that the groups pulled hissy fits and pulled all their stuff from the site. They then get marked/flagged as UNAVAILABLE. Mods are allowed to upload whatever. But when you consider that some groups have come back rather then having to upload hundreds of chapters again they just unflag em. You wouldnt be seeing unavailable chapters if you didnt enable the settings anyway.

Why don't you just turn on the hide unavailable chapters setting?

Group blocking and user blocking are two different things. Blocking users, in this case blocking mods only prevent their messages and comments being shown to you. You can still see chapters uploaded by them even if you blocked them.

In most case I think, mods aren't responsible for pulling out the chapters out of MD, it's the group's policy demanding those chapters to be deleted.
And since they are deleted, of course you can't view any of them. The reason you can still see them cluttering in your follows because you have the Unavailable chapters in your Settings set to Show. You should turn it off.

The other users itt have already explained it well, but just to be clear: our mods are not affiliated with these groups, much less have had anything to do with the chapters being taken down. The unavailable chapters are there for mainly read marking purposes. Blocking users will not block their uploads from showing up, just their comments and PMs, which is why staff is unblockable.

mm ok I understand the situation.

The reason that I recently turned on the "Unavailable chapters" setting is because of hundreds of groups left MangaDex so I had to go back and check around where I last left off as I am actively reading 500+ mangas atm

Some groups or people remove manga when they get officially licensed. That's probably what you're seeing, at least more than groups who've left.

I would also like to block some Mods out of MD. Some of them ban/delete posts for no reason.

You disagreeing with the reason doesn't mean there was none, nor does it mean mods should stop doing their job.

Could you imagine people blocking mods and then if by any chance their comment got reported and the blocked mod are happen to be the one doing the moderation?

They be like flippin out saying it was unfair and the said mod just out to get them and so on.

The mods try to take a hands off approach. Until idiots come along and think no rules apply to them FUCK DA MODS! IMA DO WHATEVER I WANT! SOMEBODY HOLD MUH BEER!

Or they've gotten way to many reports that somebody's being an asshole and their existence continues to violate rule 5.3

The issue with blocking users of mod status or higher is that they tend to post important things like warnings or forum rules and guidelines, and asking the devs to add even more code just because some people have a problem with authority is a little much. Chances are if someone hates the mods enough to block them, they won't have an account on here for too much longer anyways, feature or no
