It's more about how shrines and temples don't pay taxes on offerings and various other sources of income, but it starts off with the aforementioned heiress (and a possible murder with suicide, no less). When I think about it, it kinda makes sense that a Buddhist monk would be good at managing a business and earning money if he's from one of the bigger temples or shrines.
