I've been trying for an hour to find a specific series that I read a few months ago. I can't remember the name but I remember the premise and general plot synopsis.
It's about a 20 something year old female hitman who takes in a 10 year old boy. He is the son of a investigative reporter that revealed a scandal with a prominent public figure. The father then gets assassinated causing the mother and son to go into hiding. After a year in hiding,
on the boys's birthday, an assassin finds the family's new home and kills the mother just as he opens his birthday gift (a digital camera).
He eventually gets rescued by a local female hitman who is proficient with a specific type of handgun ( some sort of magnum?). She reluctantly takes him in and slowly, they build a mother and son relationship.
The two the go on the run trying to escape other assassins and an intrepid yet lazy detective.
I remember really liking the premise and the relationship between the two leads but I never got around to mark the series as fallow. Now I can't remember the name of the series.
