in that rwan didn't technically kidnap him so much as let him go face the demons alone in the novel (i believe that rwan blew open a hole in a door or something), though it does beg the question of how they knew that the father was sick(though i guess they don't know the father is as sick as he is, and just expected "celestine" to come help his father)

Not sure though so i guess we'll find out soon enough.
