Wonder if the Toast Master (yes i know what I said) sacrifice plan is meant to perform upkeep on a barrier to trap spirits in the living world or make ghosts turn malicious more easily since ghosts bothering ppl = profit and we know how all the rich almonds treat the lower class in this arc (or any arc really) Then have all their underlings go and disperse all the souls to raise the spiritual butter of the world to make cultivation easier since more butter means more power/prolonged lifespan. Dont have to worry about your soul getting ripped apart if you don't die
