Of course it won't amount to anything other than unneccessary drama, but it is still ultra-annoying that this over-used trope of introducing a 3rd wheel is done so late in the game. There's only three more chapters, after all, why pull this shit now?

Would her answer be any different if she had been asked if she liked the MC? She'd be too shy and embarrassed to say yes. And why not try being friends with the intention to go out in the future? At least he had the balls to confess to her. Even the MC hasn't told her he likes her.

@FredFriendly I think they did this specifically because it's almost over. They needed a reason for him to quickly look past the "I've got a small and cute senpai" and see "I'm in love with my small and cute senpai" with all the urgency of a series that's about to end.

It really could have been anything to give the push, but I doubt they're going to use all their remaining pages cucking him until the end. Especially since Komai already said she has no feelings for him. If hes present beyond the next chapter I'd be surprised.

@FredFriendly The MC hasn’t asked her out yet because he literally just realized he likes her. And about the “too shy and embarrassed to say yes,” the title of the sequel series says otherwise. Being friends with Ikeda is one thing, but with the intention to date in the future? Like I asked before, why would she do that when she doesn’t like him? She’s not obligated to do that just because he “had the balls to confess to her.” She’s not even obligated to be friends with him. She’s not obligated to do ANYTHING with him that’s not work related. I’m not getting what’s so hard to understand about that. Same thing goes in real life: a girl isn’t obligated to go out with or be friends with you just because you asked.

Well, obviously if it was planned to end in three more chapters something would have to happen to get the two main characters together, but did it really have to be this over-used, clichéd development? It's always disappointing when author's can't think of something original.
