But yeah, the answer should be pretty apparent. For whatever reason, this setting had them already. Though they're supposedly extinct now (you're not supposed to know when they're even there after all, why would you believe they had been wiped out? Because someone said so? Probably misinformation spread by them to maintain secrecy).
