There are manga that is clearly for tourism, and some manga that is clearly for tourism but only if you know the economic nature of the japan, other than that its just a normal story that takes place somewhere.

like when users like blackyawgdom ignorantly just called it "the place where the plot takes place".

So many sports mangas or just plain advertisement mangas like Dagashi Kashi or Akikan. But the recommended collections would have tonns of other uses as well.
MD should have implemented this many years ago. Anyone who used MangaRock back in the day knows it's a great feature.
