She was probably trying to keep the dude from jumping, hence why she asked him to wait until tomorrow. Maybe she thought seeing how badly the fall mangled her body would put him off on the idea of suicide?

And then he did something similar for her by trying to keep her from dying. Weird, yeah, but fantasy so not to strange or unbelievable.
