I read a ton of manga at the same time so I don't know if I've forgotten that the MC likes someone else or if it was never mentioned but I was very surprised. I thought he'd be pining over the yakuza guy and acting in an embarrassing way for a long time before this turns into mutual love but I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised. I just get too much second-hand embarrassment from people in unrequited love acting jealous or in any way that publicly declares their affections. It's natural but it bothers me so much
