Death March kara Hajimaru Isekai Kyousoukyoku - Vol. 7 Ch. 41 - Offense and Defense at the Deserted Village

We're finally getting close to were the anime finished it's season 1, can't wait for new content!

Is there some specific reason this MC behaves like such an asswipe, or is it just the common "Japanese-should-not-stand-out" trope from every other isekai story at work again? I mean, all that "cloak-and-dagger" bullshit with the kiln was far too long-winded even for most politicians.

Perhaps not everyone is like you who is purely only interested in showing off how good you are to everybody to receive praise?

How is he an asswipe? There's an obvious larger plan, one that is revealed to the reader through internal monologue. He also needs to hide himself because he fears being used maliciously by people who would do exactly that- either through blackmail or under kindly pretenses. You gotta remember, he's practically a God among mortals. He doesn't want his waifus caught in the crossfire.

Great power, great responsibility. That sort of thing.

Also, look at that badguy's bad guy mustache. Who wouldn't want to blow up his shitty bad guy plans in his shitty bad guy face?

Gotta agree here that he is so powerful that he needs to hide it as to not create troubles for his harem. And why should show off his true potential against weaklings like those?

@moodyz He literally just wants a comfy easy going life. Why would you attract unessissary attention upon yourself when your goal is to relax? Doofus

@Vasqueztion The MC can literally kill gods. Who the fuck is going to use him maliciously?

@Sonata The he needs to quit traveling (strangers ALWAYS draw attention to themselves). Quit fucking around with magic and any other magic-adjacent ability (wizards are ALWAYS getting into hijinks). Quit trying to help people (standing up like that invites villains to fuck with you), and quit collecting attractive females. Under no circumstances should he be sneaking out at night and running through the forest looking for fights or to "fill in the holes on my map". People who want quiet lives aren't that curious or OCD. He certainly shouldn't go getting into fights with shadow critters or rescuing princesses and their mouse-warrior escorts.

He should sell or chase off all of the girls except Lulu, change his name and move to the kingdom where they grow all the rice and settle down to a quiet life as a cart merchant selling otomiyaki or some shit.

He should NEVER have agreed to help out the elf chick and he DEFINITELY should not be traveling halfway across the kingdom to go dungeon diving with his gaggle of prostitarts and weird warrior women. If he wanted a quiet life of obscurity and comfort, he's done everything he could to NOT make that happen. His attempts at sneakiness and deception are laughable and only effective on children under the age of 10 and the mentally handicapped.

I'm starting to think the author may be mentally handicapped himself, so poorly wrought are the maguffins, plot twists and fidelity of his characters to their character.

@Raudhbjorn
Any human, or human-like being, in power is a prime candidate for, at the very least, trying. Especially in the setting of "sudo-medieval" most isekai use.
He isn't a noble, nor does he "look" like a godslayer. Most nobility, theoretically, are going to view him as a disposable tool.

And there's always the nugget of ransoming one of the girls (looking at Lulu for this one) to get him to do as he's told. Most villains don't plan on what the consequences might be.
Because, lets face it, most self-respecting people with any sort of real brain power wouldn't agitate death. Most...

@Raudhbjorn Thats the joke though, things that he could do to just avoid all this crap just dont sit right on his conscience so he ends up getting into these hijinks. Also the magitech shinanigans is mostly from him trying to make his and his troupe's lives more comfortable and easy. He knows hes powerful and just wants to take it easy lol

@Vasqueztion
Baddy kidnaps girlfriend
MC turns up at baddy's castle
MC kills everyone in the castle with a thought

"That's what you get cocksucker."

mounts baddie's head on a pole and hires a guy to carry it around, telling everyone what happens when you kidnap the MC's GF.

This problem could have been served through murdering weed-lip at almost any point where he has shown up and it would have been entirely justified.

I wonder what kind of brain-damage leads to people completely dismissing murder as an option when there is almost no problem it can't solve.
