It was pretty obvious that would be the route taken based on how annoying she was when she was introduced. The more annoying and unlikable the character, the more the author ships them.

@Akabane sad but true. Every once in a blue moon though the author ships the "unlikely" girl, but that doesn't seem to be the case here
