. Everytime I start to get over something yan an did that I didnt approve of, she does something equally bad or worse and its really hard for me to see her as anything but a toxic person. Would not want her im my life she too manipulative, and calculating and she only does things for her own self interest.

Can't like the FL, I was intrigued by her attitude in the beginning, but she's having 0 positive character development, instead she's become exactly the same as the Crown Princess.
The author making her go for the throne instead of keeping her focused on being rich and powerful, like in the beginning, really F-ed her character up.
She could've let her sisters fight over the throne like two bitches, while she would wield power from the background, buying officials and keeping spies, effectively owning the empire, making whichever sister got crowned crawl and beg for her to give support over every little thing, turning them into a useless puppet, and making the throne effectively useless. That would've been a more satisfying way to get revenge on the whole royal house.
Instead, she's just been turned into another bitch.
Besides the fact that this may be a RH but it's exactly like a regular H, just instead of man, the author put woman. It's gotten kind of ridiculously annoying, because it's still the same toxic mentality only gender shifted.

@mlonethakuri I might be mistaken, but considering how the world works in this story, shouldn't the quoted essay refer to Empress and not Emperor? Was it already that way from the raw?
I need to say something, i still like the female lead as you all know there is such a word as 'acting' she did all those things to save her husband while not ruining the harmony between her and her mother, there is such thing as misunderstanding so their would be a story... There are sacrifices along the way even in real life, this is where your faith and loyalty is challenged
I bet that in the end the two will be okay, just calm the hell down guys, she knows what shes doing.

I really hate what she did to Fei yue....I always had conflicting feelings about whether or not I should like Yan an, but now it's for sure.
And dang, he said that he would rather die than see her treat him like that..she better compensate for what she did to the main consort or else..

In spite of all the romantic nonsense these stories are full of, what Yan An did for Fei Yue was the kindest thing she was allowed to do at the time: as even the Empress remembered, the higher up you are, the more those around you that you love are perfect targets and potential victims for all your enemies. The only way to save them from certain death is to show the world that you are not interested in them at all, treating them as expendable goods so as not to draw attention to them.
