Well, it is post-apoc, not sure you can characterize SoL though so much as just played straight as a journey. It did have her almost die repeatedly and have that monster getting ripped apart and such, there is that killer fog, all sorts of hazards, and pretty much no other sentient beings left. It was never all fluffy.
