This has to be my favorite match of the series so far. Hyang-Ji is cool and all, but she was no match for my fellow karateka, Tae-Young!

@Garth2th2ndPower She almost had her tho. Seems Hyang-Ji wasn't a good matchup for the cute Tae-young in the same way Eun-sol wasn't a good matchup for her. She wasn't wrong telling Ji-tae before their match that she's too aggressive and it almost cost her the fight this time. Thankfully her opponent got cocky and thought she had the match won, which gave her the chance for that amazing counter. That spread with the kick was beautiful (chef kiss).

Such an A+ match and pacing, quick and clean, highlighting only the key moments and concepts in an exciting manner. I also really like the one panel on page 22 with Hyang-ji's fans, it adds so much character to the world.

@Lithe Yeah, its an "old school" name. But Question Mark Kick has become the more popular and mainstream name. It is basically just a technique where you turn a low kick or a teep feint into a upper/head kick. Combination of both twisting hips, keeping eyes on opponent's leg, leading/chambering with knee to sell the feint. Blah, Blah, Blah. But not exclusive to Brazilian style. Muay Thai has their own version too. Which is the reason "Question Mark Kick" is more wildly used. So yeah kinda weird to use that name.

Also that "upper body strike" is a weird too. Name and like how it was "thrown". Page 15 she has it chambered low with the back of her hand facing down, body mechanics wise either indicating either a like old school karate straight/cross or an upper cut. But the next 2 pages have her head position lower than her shoulder and elbow and angle of the punch show she throw like an "overhand looping" right. Which is weird because from the chambered position you want that short fast corkscrew like straight or the short uppercut with extra power coming from hips or legs. But the overhand during that while could be a good mix up but would be slower than two previous options, and with her height disadvantage. So that punch really confused me. Name and everything, but whatever.

Still seems like her game plan was just go for than one knock out hit. Nothing wrong with that. So far the fighting has been "aight", just weird names for some things and the way they talk, but that might just be me.

bro this manga is seriusly boring me to hell, it starts wit ha good history about mc wanting t ofind hes sister and stop being a pussy then we see him fight and traijn like 2 times and then thats it, we never saw it again is retarded and im gettign tired of it, i know i know is cool to see other characters but is been like 20 chapters in which the mc is just sitting there making stupid comments

@midarmour Yeah, full-contact karate people have used it, kickboxers have used it, Nak Muays have used it.
I'm surprised that no Nak Muays have turned up so far, maybe the author is saving them for later.

Also I agree that the upper body shot confuses me as well. It's possible it's a translation of chudan, which is a straight punch aimed at the solar plexus. But as you said it doesn't quite look like she does a full on karate punch, unless the author drew in the step-in and the punch sequentially which is not how you're supposed to do it.
