@Orangechrisy But "they" is fucking plural! You just can't use it in certain circumstances because you're referring to an individual.

You can check that out if you would like, "they" has been used as a singular pronoun for about 700 years at this point. If you would like an example of using singular they then let's say I wanted to mention a friend of mine to you but didn't want to say their gender, or maybe they are nonbinary as I have a number of nonbinary friends too, I might refer to them using they/them/their like I have done in this sentence a number of times already. One way you can tell that I was referring to a singular person since I mentioned "a friend" rather than some number of friends, aka the subject of the sentence was a singular person. Along with this I am quite sure that you use singular they fairly regularly, unless you for some reason refer to every person of an unknown gender as "he" or "she" or "he or she" which are all a bit odd, clunky, and restrictive. So yeah, they can be either singular or plural, it depends on context, and it most certainly can be used when referring to an individual as it as been used for hundreds of years.

@Orangechrisy Aggressive? Really? I normally type like that. Most people interpret it as sarcastic.
Well, either way, you can't really blame these people messing up here. The fact that they're even reading this means they are NOT against LGBTQ stuff. They most likely support it or are a part of it.

We just lack the knowledge. The reason why I and a lot of other people treat this pronoun thing so casually is because as a normal straight male if someone mistook me for a girl I'd either feel insulted thinking they're making fun of me...or just be wondering if I looked like a "hot" girl to them. lol
But all of those emotions would last for about 5 seconds and then I'll completely forget about it. To some people it might mean a lot more, but to us it just doesn't matter so we fail to comprehend their emotions. And that's why we end up being insensitive. Cause we're always thinking at the back of our minds "is it really that big of a deal?" but never saying it cause we don't wanna be mean.

Even I am feeling like I'm being really rude saying all that.
Also my country's language doesn't have gender specific pronouns so I've literally spent most of my life not dealing with this problem and suddenly getting thrust into the middle of it. haha

@Walter_vi_Britannia All good, I'm always happy to try and help people learn more about this stuff if they are open to it. The more people that know about this stuff allows more people to be be accepted, more people to be open about themselves, and more people who can potentially learn and find out things out about themselves that they didn't know before.
