All they have to say is "hey, we ran out of gas in the middle of the highway, and pulled into your house in order to not block the road. can you please give us/get us some gas? here is the money to buy it and some extra for your troubles."

Yeah seems to be, but the Japanese in how it is, it could have been either Ikuma or Inokuma in pronunciation. There was no way to know which pronunciation was correct until the character vocalized it, or we get some hint like that boar. I'd imagine they kept it Ikuma for consistency sake.
