It's true that Kazuya puts a malicious twist on almost everything and sometimes it definitely strains plausibility. However, Kaiji remains way too naive and trusting, putting a much too positive spin on things in the other direction. He has no way of knowing that Mario will be stable for future rounds, and in fact odds are that he probably won't be judging from what is known at this point.

The logical thing to do would definitely be to let them die unfortunately. Chang has experienced 3 near lethal failures at this point, none of them stemming from himself. Kazuya is definitely right here.
