There's a clear portrayed contrast between the JSDF's respect for established engagement laws and treatment of POW's and civilians against the medieval retrogrades who just rape and pillage. I think that on one hand, the author has some healthy love for his country and reverence towards its armed forces, and on the other he wishes to show how much civility has advanced even in war (compared to past age)s. It's certainly nationalistic, but I think it's more a celebration of progress.

This Manga’s quality is honestly not that good so far. And I’m not talking about the translation as it isn’t the mangas fault, but rather the idiot translators. Misspelled words, missing periods, missing exclamation points, etc. could they not get a better guy to translate?
Anyway, this manga feels less of a Seinen and more of a strange mix of both it and Shonen. Not surprisingly, it doesn’t work out too well. It wants to be a serious manga with all the rape and gore to show that it means business, but it has all these scenes which takes away for tension from it. The reaction shots with the goofy faces, (take Itami’s in pg 31 in this chapter for example), Itami resting on a women’s chest, etc. the content, Themes, and genres don’t inspire much confidence either. It has ecchi In theme right next to gore and violence. “Harem” and “Monster girls” in genres as well. And if you have been watching/reading anime with Harem and ecchi In it, then you’ll know that it’s gonna be bad. Ecchi+Harem is the worst anime type ever.
Pg 22: Way to ruin an exciting fighting scene with this panty shot mangaka, we really needed the fan service.
Pg 36: Wow, it sure is a coincidence that all the women invaders survived the fight! It’s not like the author has plans for these girls for later right?
Ugh, typical cliche, have the “Important” girls not be killed because it’s “unmanly” for the JSDF to do so. Gotta present to the readers that the JSDF aren’t women killers unlike those barbaric bandits!

That dude 2 steps below certainly has some kind of a problem with Reality™ where people are many-faced, and fails to even understand the very psychological basics like soldiers being taught to and naturally inclining to laugh off military actions when they can and not think too deeply about it in order to save their psyche from the grim realization of killing dozens of people just like that.
Anyway, as if it isn't clear, the author is actually a real JSDF soldier, duh. And the military stuff here is shown at least somewhat realistic, brushing aside all fantasy elements and lenience towards MC and Co°.
Yeah, it's a healthy nationalistic praise of one's military forces, no shit. Too bad a lot of western minds are not capable of comprehending that loving one's nation and being patriotic doesn't mean being a warmonger genocide-raging ax-crazy bloody men.

It's trully saddening that the are quite a number of people out there thinking about this series along the lines of "Ah, those poor Japs, they can't match any military on Earth, so they have to create medieval isekai so that they could use their nationalistic racist ego at least somewhere!" Tsk-tsk, some people could use some basic physical conditioning and discipline in their lives.
If you want to actually criticize this series then say things like "Erm, so why didn't they launch a satellite in the fist few months or so? It would take them a camera with a kilo iron ball, and a compass to get basically all the info about the planet's gravity forces they could need to calculate reaching orbit." Or "So, why didn't they brought plane parts through the gate and didn't circumnavigate the planet or at least the continent like any normal modern nation would do with uncharted lands?"
