@thegentelman Would have to change the rules as well - the return point is the starting point, so anything given to him now would bring him back to after this tiny massacre.
On the other hand, maybe he can return to those five minutes ago again. Since he didn't get to keep the odd genius, it would seem like the entire trip to the future was just a dream anyway..?

Wait, so that buddha chose the MC to like change the future just cause the MC is also a twin???? What? Where's the logic in that? Huh? If you had to choose a useful person against a person who knew nothing and without any clear abilities, who would you choose? Why didn't the buddha just like search for someone more powerful, smarter, or influential than the one in front of him just cause he's a twin? What? If it wasn't for plot armor wouldn't he die in like 5 seconds? Seriously what? Hahahaha...

It's a writer's choice. It's to make the MC look as close to the target reader audience as possible. It's so that the intended reader will feel a connection with the main character. In other words, it's self-insertion. There's a reason that the MC is the black-haired, introverted, bitter boy and not his white-haired, extroverted, joyful brother. It's self-insertion.
Separately, why didn't the buddha actually explain anything to the people until just now? You'd think that the buddha might actually tell the person hey, you're going to go to a future where certain things are happening, but I want you to keep certain other things in mind. It's a massive plot hole that you'd think he would at least try out given that he wants to change the future.
