H.P. Lovecraft's The Call of Cthulhu - Ch. 3 - Cthulhu Cult

Thanks for the translation. Really impressed with the art for this one

@bob248 be sure to check out the other tanabe gou/lovecraft books that dark horse has published in english. they are really nice.

I've always had trouble understanding how the Cthulhu cults came to be. Why worship something that only spells the end? Why make offerings for nothing in return?

@AnimuVsMango I think the idea is that the old ones themselves drive people insane so that they either welcome the end or feel like they have to worship them.

(Plus old H.P. was super racist, and didn't think much of non-white religions)

Holly shit the art on this chapter, so many good pages, no one can compare to Tanabe Gou when it comes to dealing with Lovecraft.

Man did HP was brimming with xenophobia on this one, even more so than usual.

There are some anecdotes that Lovecraft was so racist that even the racists of the time thought it was too much.

‘Lovecraft was a racist...’
Well sure. He was also a cat-lover.
And At the Mountains of Madness confirmed that humanity was basically a biological fuck-up.
So don’t get the feeling he had a love for humanity in general.
