What horse shit. What part of Itagaki's victory was due to hard work? It is reiterated over and over again that he is a "natural" and a "genius". It is made clear that he has never been taught or practiced most of the techniques he relies on, and we have seen that his sparring practice is pretty worthless because he does not get serious.
Even his stamina seems more to do with him being too cocky and obsessed to realize he has somehow passed his limit, than it is due to hard training or even the type of guts that Ippo is famous for.
