Recently I seem to see many series that portrait the culture of otakus in a negative light, to a point that is ridiculous. I'm interested in the phenomenon, and also pretty attracted in the most morbid of ways, so I'd like to ask for two of these series, but I'm open to any series that deal with the idea of otakuism from an oppressively critic point of view.
The first one, I remember it centering around idols, and in the first pages you can see a fat and a slim otaku, the second one has come a bit late because his job is leaving him without time, and the fat one is jobless. They have to go to a concert of an idol group (the fat tries to attend all of them). There was a 2 page spread of both guys in the streets.
The second one is more recent, there is a guy working in a convenience store (whoever wrote it must have worked there for some time, because I had me happening the exact same things of the manga), and he is a disgusting idol ota, his boss is a piece of shit, his mum is a piece of shit, and he is a piece of shit. Nonetheless, he is obsessed with an idol from his high school that once lent him a tissue after he had been beaten up like a piece of shit by some pieces of shit, and the boss "accidentally" threw in the trash the tissue he had been worshipping, which ends up with him having turned into an intangible entity that can travel through electricity and is determined to make his adored idol the number one of all Japan. It happens in the near future, I think, although nowadays it's difficult to know what's near future and what's happening already. It started with Denki (電気), and then... n? Help me.
I don't know if any of them is translated.
