Hitman - Vol. 9 Ch. 79 - Both Sides' Opinions

Unpopular opinion maybe?

Shimakaze should just be grateful that her manga got an anime so early in the game and suck it up.

The animator are supposed to work FOR the author ! Not the other way around...
They have the right to make certain demands but they shouldn't expect them to all be granted.
But then again, it's all business... And this is a perfect example why so many authors went "crestfallen".
=> Because the anime adaptation they got was unable to convey what the original manga did.

If realistic examples of anime adaptations have shown us something is that the adaptations that look the most original are the most beloved by the fans. The anime shouldn't make the original source more generic. It should make it more unique, add to what it already has and compensate for what it lost.

For example Boku no hero Academia, Naruto, Bleach, One Piece and Jojo's. The character designs and overall quality of the drawings is arguably less impressive in the anime than in the manga, BUT all these shows have amazing soundtracks, animations and voice acting.

On the other hand, HunterxHunter (2011), Haikyuu, Shingeki no Kyojin, Mob Psycho, etc. These ones are MUCH better than the manga because the art is better than the original source and they also have excellent voice acting, soundtrack and animation.

Generic means that it can be forgotten easily. And Mainstream doesn't mean generic, it means that it's popular, and we can agree that many mainstream anime look VERY different and have almost no similarities in the character designs.

Anyone else find it kinda stupid how a big project anime got moved up? They are suppose to be putting a lot of money into it so y are they trying to rush it? It makes 0 sense to me.

So they want to sacrifice her artistic integrity for fujoshi fangirls who want bishounen looking men instead of appealing to her fanbase who would want the art to be the same. Sounds about right for the anime industry.

Post both designs on social media and let the fans decide
If they prefer author's design, the director's argument is invalid
If they like the studio design, author will probably be able to be convinced to relent

Time to see the other heroines in action, leave the bakaple alone for a while

So they're hoping original fans don't care if designs suck and clearly appeal to different demographic and will buy the DVD/BDs anyway, while also trying to get new fans...

Ignoring the fact that established fanbase is the guaranteed profit and thus should be appealed to.

Nay director. This time, your way ain’t the way. This is exactly why we have the “same face syndrome” in most animations. It might fine (or even better) if the source material’s artwork is subpar.

If the source material’s artwork is amazing, it will only ruin the experience. Better favor the manga’s already existing fans, instead of appealing to new fans who’re not guaranteed to buy the blu-ray to begin with.

The director’s way isn’t wrong. The problem is: he can’t use this method as “one size fits all” solution. So this time, I’m siding with Shimakaze.

@Raydnt The issue with public polls like that it can very heavily affected byr andom trolls or people who have the time, energy, or resournces to simply make several dummy accounts to heavily favor oneside or wish to see one side tank. Its a noble sentiment to think the public isn't like that, but there are too many people who do that...
