@Randomizer: It's probably because the Japanese just happen to think the same way English-speakers do when it comes to figurative connotations of "eating". Hell, it's not that hard of a jump to make since lust is easy to interpret as a "sexual hunger".

Manga with 30 chapters has maneater in fox form, 31 has as the reveal and sex, 32 onward is them dating (and other stuff)in between battles. Around chapter 100 she reveals that whoops she is pregnant. More time passes, start raising family of foxes.
