Some of the subtypes of gyaru are extremely dependant on really heavy makeup and stuff like spray on tan if they can't actually go tanning enough. If you read Komi-san, Manbagi was a "manba" gyaru when she first appeared. Now she's more of a kuro gyaru. The whole gyaru thing is a lot more complicated than I care to think about considering how much I like them in manga. But yeah, apparently she has a fake tan.
